Torsdag 14. og fredag 15. januar har vi gleden av å invitere til kurs med Dr. Shaun O'Leary på Lillehammer. Kursets tittel er "Management of Problematic Cervical Spine Disorders". Dr O'Leary jobber til daglig ved University of Queensland og deltar aktivt i verdensledende forskningsarbeid innen undersøkelse og behandling av nakkelidelser. Han har sendt oss følgende kursbeskrivelse:


This course is concerned with the assessment and management of problematic chronic cervical spine disorders. There is irrefutable evidence of an association between mechanical neck pain and dysfunction of the cervical motor system. In accordance, interventions focused on the retraining of cervical motor function have shown favourable responses in alleviating neck pain, particularly when used in combination with manual therapy techniques. In light of this, the course will draw on applied anatomy, research evidence from mechanistic and interventional studies, and clinical expertise, to outline a systematic approach to the assessment and training of cervical motor function for the management of neck pain. In particular there will be a practical approach to establishing the relationship between a patient’s functional deficit, their painful movement disorder, their active control of posture and movement, their performance during specific tests of cervical and axioscapular muscle groups, and the flexibility of their cervical spine and functionally related regions. In this manner rehabilitation of the cervical motor system can be tailored to a patient’s specific needs, with an appropriate utilisation of exercise with other physical modalities.
